A holy tour in Medinah.

From Yathrib to Medinah.

A glimpse of highway to Medina.  Medina is the second holiest city among the Muslims after Mecca.  It is about 340 km from Mecca.

Before the arrival of Islam, this town is known as Yathrib.  The advent of Islam in Yathrib began in the year 622.   Medina in Arab language means city.   It was a capital for the early Islam Empire.

This is Quba Mosque.  The first mosque built by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w on his arrival in Yathrib.  This is  not the original building, it was erected and renovated many times.  However it is still considered as the oldest mosque in the world.

Front view of the Prophet's Mosque or al-Masjid an-Nabawi.  This mosque contains the burial place of the prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

One picture is worth a thousand words.

Under the green dome is located the  resting place of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

Mount Uhud in the year 625 was a battle field between the muslims of Medina and Meccan Quraysh.  The Battle of Uhud was a retaliation of the Meccan Quraysh whom was defeated by the Medina Muslims in  the Battle of Badar in 624.

The Medina Muslims lost the battle with large casualties.  This because the Muslims warriors disobeyed Prophet Muhammad tactical orders.  The martyrs  were buried on the the battle field.   you can visit the martyrs mausoleum at he foot of Mount Uhud.

Visiting a date plantation is not a holy deeds but you are nuts for not visiting.  Here you can eat as much as you can, it is free of charge.  To take home then you have to pay.

There are many types of dates with different medical benefits.  For example Barhi or Barni good for physical illness, Sukkary good for male aphrodisiac and Ajwah is cited in the hadith for it marvelous benefits.

There are numerous historical site to cherish in Medina.  There are dozens of historical mosque such as al-Qiblatain mosque, Jumah mosque, Abubakar al-Siddiq mosque, Umar al-Kattab mosque, Ali Ibn Abu Talib mosque and many more.  Famous well such Bir Rumah or Bir Uthman (  Uthman bought the well from a Jew for  the advent Muslims in Medina as a source  of water supply prior to this the Muslims have to pay for the water to the Jew).

May Allah bless you always.

Shisha and Electronic cigarette are not risk free.

Is vaping  a new hazard or tobacco smoking cure.

Shisha also known as hookah, narghile, arghla, qalyan, or lula lulava.   It is very popular in the Middle East.   This type of smoking originated during the Safavid dynasty ( 1501 to 1722 ) in Persia now known as Iran.  In turkey it is status symbol.   In Pakistan it is common feature both in cities. and rural areas.

Nowadays hookah are available around the world.   Shisha or hookah are readily for sale in the United States of America and Canada.  It is widely smoked in India, Bangladesh, South Africa, and South East Asia.

There are many brands for hookah tobacco and hookah flavors.  Al-Fakher brand has 0.05%  Nicotine content and 0% Tar.

About 5000 chemicals have been identified in a cigarette smoking.  However in a medical studies carried out in Saudi Arabia,  only 142 chemicals identified in Hookah smoke.  So it is still not risk free.

According to Center for Disease control and Prevention in United Kingdom hookah smoking grew from 4.1% to  9.4% ( 2011 to 2014 ).
In Malaysia the youngsters are now turning to vapor notably because of the big increase in the tobacco cigarette price.

Vaping or electronic cigarette fanciers have some good news.  Public Health of England declared it is 95% less harmful than the tobacco cigarette.  Electronic cigarettes are not completely safe because there are lack of evidence of its long term usage.
Inhaling tobacco smoke either from hookah, vape or cigarette is never going to be good for your health even with zero nicotine.
